The Birnin Gwari Emirate Progressives Union (BEPU) has lauded President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for the significant strides made in restoring peace and fostering development in the troubled Birnin Gwari area of Kaduna State.
In a statement issued by Dr. Isah Muhammad, President of BEPU, the union highlighted the remarkable improvements in security since November 2024, noting that incidents of killings and kidnappings have dropped by over 95 percent.
“This level of security stability is unprecedented in recent memory,” the statement read.
“Thousands of farmers have now returned to their farmlands in 2025, a development that had not been witnessed in over a decade.”
The union noted that federal highways traversing the Birnin Gwari axis are now safe for commuters, while major grain markets have returned to full activity. Similarly, the livestock trade, dormant for more than eight years due to insecurity, has resumed in full swing.
BEPU expressed deep appreciation to President Tinubu for his decisive leadership, particularly his recent pronouncement during a visit to Kaduna State.
The president announced that the Federal Executive Council has approved the reconstruction and rehabilitation of three strategic roads: Kaduna-Birnin Gwari, Birnin Gwari-Funtua, and Birnin Gwari–Tegina–Mokwa.
The union also praised the efforts of Kaduna State Governor, Senator Uba Sani, for his consistent commitment to peace and infrastructural development in Birnin Gwari.
Among his notable initiatives is the proposed establishment of a modern livestock market and abattoir in the area, a development BEPU described as timely and commendable.
Additionally, the union urged the contractor handling the Birnin Gwari–Randagi road project to adhere strictly to standards of quality and integrity to ensure long-term value for the people.
Reiterating its long-standing appeal, BEPU called on the Federal Government to establish a Federal University of Minerals and Forest Resources in Birnin Gwari.
The area, it said, is richly endowed with unique and commercially valuable mineral deposits, including rare varieties of gold not found anywhere else in the world, as well as expansive forest reserves.
In a show of solidarity, the union extended condolences to the people of Benue State over the recent surge in violence that has claimed numerous lives, and to the residents of Mokwa in Niger State, who have suffered devastating losses due to flooding.
BEPU further condemned ongoing illegal activities within the Kamuku National Park, including illegal logging, mining, and poaching.
It commended the Federal Ministry of Environment and the park’s management for their vigilance and called for sustained oversight to protect the park’s ecological integrity.
