Political activities ahead of the 2027 general elections intensified in Southern Kaduna on Saturday as Honourable Sylvester Anthony, popularly known as Brando, officially declared his intention to contest for the House of Representatives seat representing Zangon Kataf/Jaba Federal Constituency.

The declaration event, held in Zonkwa, attracted a large turnout of party faithful, community leaders, traditional rulers, youth groups, women’s organisations, and other stakeholders from across the two local government areas.

The occasion was chaired by Dr. Thod Joseph Dogo, a former Kaduna State Commissioner for Health and ex-Chairman of Jaba Local Government Area, who was represented by Mr. Peter Buba, Regional Manager of United Bank for Africa in Kaduna and Jagaban of Piriga Chiefdom.

In his remarks, Dr. Dogo described Anthony as a capable and forward-thinking leader, noting that his experience at the National Assembly positions him to deliver effective representation.

He added that the aspirant had demonstrated commitment to the welfare of his constituents through various developmental initiatives and urged the people to support his ambition.

Also speaking, the Chairman of the Kaduna State Internal Revenue Service, Comrade Jerry Adams, called on residents of Zangon Kataf and Jaba to remain steadfast in their support for the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the elections.

Adams commended the administrations of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani for delivering impactful projects across Southern Kaduna and the state at large.

He urged party delegates to support Anthony during the forthcoming primaries, expressing confidence in his capacity to advance youth and women empowerment, grassroots development, and quality representation.

Other dignitaries, including the Chairman of Zangon Kataf Local Government Council, Engr. Bege Gaiya; Honourable Samuel Kambai, representing Zangon Kataf in the Kaduna State House of Assembly; and Honourable Henry Mara of Jaba Constituency, also endorsed Anthony’s candidacy.

They commended his humility, dedication, and longstanding contributions to community development, expressing optimism that he would attract more development projects and strengthen unity within the constituency.

In his address, Honourable Anthony expressed appreciation to supporters and party leaders for their confidence in him, assuring constituents of accessible, responsive, and inclusive representation if elected.

He outlined key priorities of his campaign to include infrastructure development, improved healthcare and education, job creation, and sustained engagement with constituents to ensure their interests are effectively represented at the National Assembly.

Anthony also emphasised the importance of security, pledging to collaborate with relevant authorities, community leaders, and stakeholders to promote peace and stability across the constituency.

A highlight of the event was the inauguration of his campaign structure, alongside the donation of seven vehicles to campaign leaders, including APC chairmen in Zangon Kataf and Jaba Local Government Areas.

Additionally, fifty motorcycles were distributed to ward chairmen and campaign coordinators across both councils.

Beneficiaries expressed gratitude for the support and pledged to utilise the resources to strengthen grassroots mobilisation while ensuring full backing for Anthony’s bid to represent the constituency in the House of Representatives.
