Widows across Delta State have received their October monthly stipends under the state government’s Widows Welfare Scheme, reaffirming the Oborevwori administration’s commitment to providing social support for vulnerable residents.

The financial assistance, which covers beneficiaries across the 25 local government areas of the state, is part of the government’s ongoing efforts to cushion the economic challenges faced by widows and improve their standard of living.

The Executive Assistant to the Governor on Social Investment Programmes, Chief Dr Isioma Okonta, commended Governor Sheriff Oborevwori for sustaining the initiative and ensuring the regular disbursement of the monthly stipends.

Okonta said the programme was a practical demonstration of the governor’s commitment to the welfare of vulnerable groups and the people-oriented objectives of his MORE Agenda.

He explained that the intervention had continued to provide vital financial support to beneficiaries, many of whom rely on the stipends to meet household expenses, provide for their children and address other essential needs.

According to him, the administration remains committed to ensuring that no vulnerable segment of society is neglected, particularly widows who face financial difficulties following the loss of their spouses.

He urged beneficiaries to judiciously utilise the financial assistance and continue to support the state government with prayers as it implements its development programmes.

Some beneficiaries, who expressed appreciation for the October payment, described the scheme as a timely intervention that has continued to ease their financial burdens and support their families.

They praised Governor Oborevwori for sustaining the initiative and extending government assistance to widows across the state, while praying for God’s continued guidance, strength and wisdom for the governor.

The continued payment of the monthly stipends highlights the Delta State Government’s commitment to inclusive governance and social protection, particularly in addressing the economic difficulties confronting vulnerable households.

For the beneficiaries, the scheme remains an important source of financial relief and reassurance that their welfare continues to receive attention under the Oborevwori administration.
