The Delta State Police Command has arrested three suspected criminals in separate intelligence-led operations in Agbarho and Oghara, recovering six firearms, four live cartridges, 10 expended cartridges and other incriminating items.

The arrests, according to the Police, form part of sustained efforts to dismantle criminal networks, curb cult-related activities and rid the state of illegal firearms.

In a statement issued on Friday, November 6, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe, the Command disclosed that two suspects were apprehended along the Agbarho–Warri Expressway on November 4 by operatives of the Command Anti-Cultism Unit (CACU), Sector 3, Ovwian-Aladja.

The suspects were identified as Akpoghene Goodluck, 34, and Solomon Arhugberume James, 50.

According to the statement, Goodluck was arrested after he allegedly attempted to evade police operatives who were on patrol along the expressway.

A subsequent search of the premises where he was apprehended reportedly led to the recovery of two locally fabricated firearms and 10 expended cartridges.

Further investigations led to the arrest of James, from whose residence operatives recovered a pump-action gun and one live cartridge.

The police disclosed that both suspects claimed to be members of the Nigeria Hunters and Forest Security outfit but were unable to produce identification documents to authenticate their claims.

In a separate operation, operatives of the Oghara Police Division arrested a 23-year-old suspected cultist, Clinton Awuerowswo, popularly known as Clinbaby, on October 23, 2026.

The suspect had reportedly been on the run following an earlier recovery of firearms from his residence on March 23, 2026.

Items recovered in connection with the arrest included a Beretta pistol, two locally fabricated cut-to-size guns, three live cartridges, a battle axe and a jackknife.

During preliminary interrogation, the suspect allegedly admitted ownership of the recovered weapons and membership of the Eiye confraternity.

The police said investigations into the cases were ongoing.

Reacting to the development, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, warned individuals involved in cultism and the unlawful possession of firearms to desist from criminal activities.

He reaffirmed the Command’s resolve to sustain security operations aimed at dismantling criminal groups and ensuring the safety of residents across the state.

The police commissioner also appealed to members of the public to support security agencies with credible and timely information, assuring informants of strict confidentiality.
