Former Delta State Governor, Senator Dr Ifeanyi Okowa, has urged Nigerians, particularly voters in the South-South region, to support President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027, declaring that the President deserves another term to consolidate his administration’s reforms and development initiatives.

Okowa made the call on Saturday at the flag-off of the All Progressives Congress (APC) South-South campaign for Tinubu’s re-election in Port Harcourt, Rivers State.

He maintained that Tinubu’s policies and programmes were laying the foundation for a new Nigeria, insisting that the President should be given another opportunity to advance the country’s economic transformation.

The former governor appealed to the electorate to turn out in large numbers during the 2027 general elections to deliver overwhelming votes for Tinubu, the APC and its candidates across the country.

Okowa, who is the APC senatorial candidate for Delta North and a two-term former governor of Delta State, also reaffirmed his conviction about his defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the APC alongside Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.

He explained that his decision was informed by his assessment of Tinubu’s policies and the direction of the Federal Government, which he said convinced him that joining forces with the President was in the best interest of the country.

“You all know that in 2023 I was in another ticket, but I have seen the light and I have seen what Mr President is doing for Nigeria. It is the right thing to be done and I have, along with my governor, long ago crossed to the APC to join hands with Mr President, because he is truly building a new Nigeria,” Okowa said.

He further stressed that the South-South region must take an active role in the President’s re-election campaign, noting that the region should align with what he described as the administration’s reform agenda and infrastructure development drive.

The APC chieftain urged party leaders, members, supporters and other stakeholders across the South-South to close ranks, intensify grassroots mobilisation and work collectively towards securing victory for Tinubu and the party in the 2027 elections.

He expressed confidence that a united South-South APC would contribute significantly to the President’s re-election prospects.
