Borno APC Backs Tinubu–Shettima Ticket For 2027 Elections

The Borno State chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has formally endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Kashim Shettima as its consensus candidates for the 2027 general elections.

The endorsement was reached during a high-level stakeholders’ meeting held on Saturday in Maiduguri, the state capital. The session, convened by Governor Babagana Umara Zulum, drew an extensive turnout of party leaders and key political figures across the state.

The resolution followed a motion moved by Governor Zulum, urging party members to rally behind the Tinubu–Shettima ticket in the forthcoming elections.

Addressing participants, Governor Zulum called for sustained unity and collective commitment among party stakeholders, noting that electoral success in the state would depend on maintaining cohesion within the APC ranks.

Reflecting on his administration’s record, he stated that his government has ensured inclusiveness and fairness in engaging political actors over the past seven years.

He also expressed hope for a successor who would consolidate on existing achievements and further advance development in the state.

The governor reaffirmed his commitment to governance, assuring that political activities would not distract his administration from delivering democratic dividends to the people of Borno State.

The meeting was attended by prominent party leaders, including Deputy Governor Umar Usman Kadafur; APC Deputy National Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori; and the State APC Chairman, Bello Ayuba.

Also present was the Minister of Agriculture and Food Security, Senator Abubakar Kyari, alongside former deputy governors, members of the National and State Assemblies, and party executives at both state and local government levels.

Other dignitaries in attendance included the Secretary to the State Government, Bukar Tijani; Acting Chief of Staff, Dr. Babagana Mustapha Mallumbe; Senior Special Assistant to the President on Legal and Compliance Matters (Office of the Vice President), Barrister Bashir Maidugu; as well as former commissioners, special advisers, and other senior government officials.
