Governor of Taraba State, Dr. Agbu Kefas, has called for a consensus-driven approach ahead of the forthcoming primaries of the All Progressives Congress (APC), urging party stakeholders to prioritise unity and internal cohesion.

The governor made the appeal during a stakeholders’ meeting held at the EXCO Chambers, TY Danjuma House in Jalingo, where discussions focused on the mode of selection for party candidates.

Addressing party leaders and stakeholders, Kefas emphasised the importance of broad consultations across the three senatorial zones, encouraging them to engage widely within their constituencies and work towards producing consensus candidates for elective positions within a short timeframe.

He commended the prevailing unity within the party, noting that it has contributed to its growth in the state, and assured members that issues arising from recent congresses are being addressed.

The governor also stressed the need for peaceful engagement among aspirants, cautioning against actions that could create divisions within the party.

He urged those seeking elective offices to embrace collaboration, accommodate differing interests, and avoid unnecessary disputes.

Kefas further conveyed goodwill from President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, while reminding aspirants to approach the political process with humility and a sense of responsibility.

In his remarks, the State APC Chairman, Abubakar Bawa, assured aspirants of a fair process in instances where consensus may not be achieved.

He also urged compliance with party guidelines on the purchase and submission of nomination forms.

The meeting, which later continued behind closed doors, was attended by former senators, members of the National and State Assemblies, senior party officials, and other key stakeholders.
