ETHIOPE, DELTA STATE — The member representing Ethiope Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Erhiatake Ibori-Suenu, intensified her constituency interventions and grassroots engagements in August 2026, with attention to roads, infrastructure, flood relief and community development.
According to the Ibori-Suenu Grassroots Network (ISGN), the lawmaker’s activities during the month reflected a combination of physical development projects, emergency assistance and sustained engagement with constituents, community leaders and political stakeholders.
One of the major interventions was her facilitation of the reconstruction of the Oghara-Elume axis of the Warri-Benin Federal Expressway, a major route that had deteriorated significantly, creating difficulties for motorists and affecting economic activities along the corridor.
The reconstruction was formally flagged off on August 28, 2026, following Ibori-Suenu’s intervention and the subsequent mobilisation of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) to the project site.
Ibori-Suenu commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for approving the intervention and praised the NDDC management for responding promptly to the road’s condition.
She expressed optimism that the reconstruction would ease transportation challenges, improve access to healthcare and educational institutions, facilitate the movement of agricultural produce and petroleum products, and stimulate economic activities in the affected communities.
The lawmaker also drew attention to the Edjamouyavwe-Ijomi Bypass Road, which traverses Effruokpe, Edemukpe, Ugbokodo/Ogbomo Quarters and the Western Delta University Law Faculty axis.
The road, when fully addressed, is expected to reduce traffic pressure and improve connectivity to schools, healthcare facilities, markets and other economic centres within the constituency.
Another area of focus was the continuation of community lighting projects across the constituency. The ISGN said the initiative had improved visibility and security while extending the period of economic activities in beneficiary communities.
According to the group, the lighting projects have also provided residents and students with improved conditions for evening activities, including reading.
Responding to the recent flooding around the local government headquarters, Ibori-Suenu also reached out to affected residents and provided assistance to some victims as part of efforts to cushion the impact of the incident.
Beyond infrastructure and humanitarian interventions, the lawmaker maintained an active engagement schedule throughout the month, consulting with political leaders, community stakeholders and constituents.
She also participated in various social and community events, including birthday celebrations, marriage ceremonies and burial activities, reinforcing her grassroots presence across the constituency.
At a strategic meeting with APC executives from the 11 wards of Ethiope East Local Government Area, Ibori-Suenu urged party members to remain united, loyal and committed to the party, while commending the state government for what she described as efforts toward political unity and development.
The ISGN Media Team said it would continue to monitor and document the progress of the various interventions, describing August as another month of what it termed “action, accessibility, compassion and measurable impact” in constituency representation.
The group further disclosed that preparations were ongoing for what it described as the “Mother of All Empowerment Programmes,” expected to be held in the coming months.
