Oborevwori Honours Centenarian Esther Ahon At 100, Celebrates Life Of Service, Virtue

Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has paid tribute to Mrs. Esther Ahon as she marks her 100th birthday, describing her as a symbol of humility, discipline, and exemplary motherhood.

The governor, represented by the Chairman of Ughelli North Local Government Council, Olorogun Jaro Egbo, spoke at a thanksgiving service held at Bishop Agori-Iwe Memorial Anglican Church, Ovwodavwaren, in Ughelli.

He noted that the centenarian’s life reflects enduring values of integrity, kindness, and moral uprightness, which continue to inspire both present and future generations.

Oborevwori said the celebration was not only in recognition of her longevity but also a tribute to her legacy of strong family values, community impact, and dedication to raising responsible children, including her son, the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor.

He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to the welfare and dignity of senior citizens, stressing the importance of honouring elders for their contributions to society.

Reflecting on traditional values, the governor described the revered title of “Okpakorere” as one of the highest forms of honour within the community, noting that such recognition is earned through a lifetime of integrity and service.

In his sermon, Venerable Oghomena Diakeleho-Edjere described Mrs. Ahon as a devoted Christian known for her consistency, commitment, and active participation in church activities.

He urged others to emulate her life of faith and service.

On behalf of the family, Mr. Moses Ahon expressed gratitude to God for the milestone, describing the centenarian as the matriarch of the family and the first to attain such an age.

He also appreciated the presence of dignitaries, traditional rulers, and well-wishers who graced the occasion.

The celebration featured prayers, tributes, and a reception where family members and guests joined the centenarian in marking the historic milestone.
