Students of Oruchi Comprehensive Secondary School, Amachai, Okpanam, have received academic support and moral guidance following a joint outreach by Fostering Hopes Foundation and Precious Family Aid Charity Foundation, which saw the donation of books and writing materials to the institution.
During the engagement, representatives of both organisations sensitised students on the dangers of social vices, including cultism and drug abuse, stressing that such behaviours could undermine their future aspirations.
Speaking on behalf of Fostering Hopes Foundation, the Director of Community Engagement and Development, Comrade Patrick Ochei, reaffirmed the organisation’s dedication to child welfare and development.
He disclosed that the foundation has empowered 12 women to support childcare initiatives and is currently providing scholarships to 42 children.
He encouraged the students to remain focused, disciplined, and committed to both their academic and personal development.
In her address, the Executive Director of Precious Family Aid Charity Foundation, Mrs. Patricia Gbemudu, applauded the school’s leadership for maintaining a conducive and child-friendly learning environment.
She urged students to pursue excellence and steer clear of negative influences that could derail their goals.
Delivering the keynote lecture, the State Director of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Mrs. Tracy Ikolomi, emphasised the importance of making informed decisions and upholding positive values.
She commended the students for their discipline and academic potential, while also recognising the contributions of the school’s principal and teaching staff.
She further advised the students to resist peer pressure and remain steadfast in their pursuit of excellence.
In her response, the school principal, Mrs. Ofuasia, expressed appreciation to the visiting organisations for their intervention.
She underscored the role of partnerships with non-governmental organisations in promoting both academic achievement and character development among students.
The visit ended on a positive note, with students and staff expressing gratitude for the donated materials, describing the initiative as timely, impactful, and encouraging.
