Hon. Bridget Anyafulu, member representing Oshimili South Constituency in the Delta State House of Assembly, has formally announced her intention to seek a second term in office.
The first-term lawmaker made her declaration during a stakeholders’ consultation held at the All Progressives Congress (APC) Local Government Secretariat, where she engaged party executives, ward leaders, and grassroots mobilisers on her stewardship and future plans.
Addressing the gathering, Anyafulu expressed appreciation to her constituents for the opportunity to serve, noting that their support has been central to her achievements over the past three years.
She reaffirmed her commitment to people-focused representation anchored on inclusivity and sustainable development.
“I remain deeply grateful for the trust reposed in me. The progress we have recorded is a collective effort, and I am committed to building on this foundation,” she stated.
The lawmaker also acknowledged the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, stating that their policy direction has provided a framework for effective governance at both federal and state levels.
Highlighting her legislative and constituency interventions, Anyafulu said her tenure has prioritised improvements in education, healthcare, economic empowerment, and infrastructure.
In the education sector, she facilitated the distribution of school uniforms, bags, and learning materials to pupils across the constituency, a move aimed at reducing the financial burden on families and encouraging school attendance.
She also introduced school-based agricultural programmes designed to promote food security while equipping students with practical skills.
On healthcare, Anyafulu disclosed that over 1,200 constituents have been enrolled into the Delta State Health Insurance Scheme through her intervention, enhancing access to affordable medical services, particularly for low-income households.
Economic empowerment, she noted, has been pursued through financial support to petty traders and small-scale business owners, enabling them to expand their operations and improve their livelihoods.
She added that her office has also facilitated job opportunities for constituents within both public and private sectors.
As Chairman of the House Committee on Housing, Women Affairs, Humanitarian Support Services and Girl Child Development, Anyafulu said she has maintained a strong focus on social inclusion.
She cited the distribution of mobility aids to persons living with disabilities as part of efforts to ensure that vulnerable groups are not left behind.
In the area of infrastructure, she pointed to her role in facilitating road projects within Oshimili South, aimed at improving connectivity and easing transportation challenges.
Presenting her record as a basis for continuity, Anyafulu said her re-election bid is driven by a desire to consolidate on existing gains and deliver more impactful projects to her constituency.
In his remarks, the APC Local Government Chairman, Chief Dada Okolo, commended the lawmaker for what he described as effective representation and visible contributions to the development of Oshimili South.
He encouraged her to remain committed to service and continue delivering quality leadership.
“We are proud of the strides recorded so far. Your performance has justified the confidence reposed in you, and we urge you to sustain the momentum,” he said.
He added that the party would continue to support credible representatives who demonstrate capacity, experience, and dedication to public service.
