The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, has reaffirmed the commitment of the Command to strengthened inter-agency collaboration following a series of strategic courtesy visits to key security institutions in the state.

The visits, which took place on Monday, April 27, 2026, saw the CP, accompanied by members of the Command’s management team, engage with the leadership of the 63 Brigade Nigerian Army and the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA), Delta State Command, as part of ongoing efforts to enhance coordinated responses to crime.

During the engagements, CP Oyeniyi emphasised the evolving nature of security threats, noting that crimes such as kidnapping, armed robbery, child trafficking, and drug-related offences are interconnected and require a unified, intelligence-driven approach.

He commended both the Nigerian Army and NDLEA for their continued support to policing efforts in the state, stressing that no single agency can effectively tackle the complex security challenges facing society.

At the NDLEA Command, the Police Commissioner underscored the urgency of intensifying joint operations to combat drug trafficking and abuse, describing the menace as a key driver of criminal activities and a significant threat to the nation’s youth.

Responding, the Commander of the 63 Brigade Nigerian Army, Brigadier General M.A. Shonibare, and the NDLEA State Commander, CN Halilu Hamidu, PhD, lauded the Delta State Police Command for its proactive approach to security.

Both leaders reaffirmed their agencies’ readiness to deepen collaboration through intelligence sharing, joint operations, and sustained institutional cooperation aimed at ensuring peace and stability across the state.

The engagements highlight the renewed resolve of the Delta State Police Command to foster stronger partnerships among security agencies and promote a coordinated framework for effective crime prevention and public safety.
