ASABA — The Delta State Police Command has arraigned Prince Chizoba Ojokwu, proprietor of Prince Tarvan 50 Brothel, alongside 29 other suspects following an intelligence-led crime prevention and enforcement operation conducted across identified criminal hotspots within the Asaba metropolis.

The suspects were among 202 persons arrested during the operation carried out on Saturday, July 4, 2026.

The raid, led by the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of the Department of Operations, was based on credible intelligence generated by the State Intelligence Department (SID) on the activities of suspected criminals operating within Asaba and adjoining communities.

According to the Command, the operation targeted identified black spots, brothels and suspected illicit drug dens as part of sustained efforts to combat crime and improve public safety across the state.

Police said preliminary investigations led to the unconditional release of 172 suspects after they were screened and found not to have committed any offence.

However, Prince Chizoba Ojokwu, 63, proprietor of Prince Tarvan 50 Brothel, was arraigned before the Asaba Magisterial District Court for allegedly permitting his premises to be used as a brothel and procuring women and girls for prostitution.

The offences are punishable under Sections 224 and 223 of the Criminal Code Law, Cap. C21, Volume I, Laws of Delta State of Nigeria, 2006.

The remaining 29 suspects were arraigned on charges bordering on conduct likely to cause a breach of the peace and unlawful possession of illicit drugs.

The Commissioner of Police, Yemi Oyeniyi, reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to ensuring that every lawful arrest is followed by diligent investigation and prosecution where a prima facie case has been established.

He warned operators of criminal hideouts and other unlawful establishments to desist from activities capable of threatening public peace and security, stressing that the Command would continue to sustain intelligence-led operations aimed at flushing out criminal elements across Delta State.

The Police Command also urged residents to continue providing credible and timely information to security agencies, assuring that such information would be treated with utmost confidentiality as efforts to safeguard lives and property across the state are intensified.
