The Delta State Police Command has recorded fresh operational successes in Effurun and Agbor, with the recovery of a locally made firearm, the arrest of a suspected drug peddler and the seizure of suspected illicit drugs.
The Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.
Gun Recovered After Armed Robbery Attempt
According to the statement, two masked men armed with a locally made shotgun broke into the residence of a 48-year-old man in the Charlisco area of NPA Express Road, Effurun, at about 5:30 a.m. on September 4.
The victim reportedly confronted one of the suspects and engaged him in a struggle, during which the firearm broke.
The second suspect allegedly struck the victim on the forehead before both men fled the scene, abandoning the damaged firearm.
The incident was reported at Ekpan Divisional Police Station at about 6:14 a.m., following which the Divisional Police Officer immediately deployed operatives to the scene.
The officers recovered the broken locally made firearm, while the victim was taken to a hospital for medical attention.
The Police Command said a manhunt had been launched for the fleeing suspects.
Suspected Drug Peddler Arrested In Agbor
In a separate operation, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit (SAKU), Ubulu-Uku, arrested a 40-year-old woman, Joy Anthony, in Agbor on September 6.
The arrest, according to the Command, followed credible intelligence regarding suspected drug-related activities.
A search warrant executed at her residence in Agbor-Obi reportedly led to the recovery of quantities of substances suspected to be Swinol, Tramadol, Codeine, Canadian Loud and weeds suspected to be Indian hemp.
The suspect and the recovered exhibits are currently in police custody as investigation continues.
CP Commends Victim, Seeks Public Support
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, commended the 48-year-old victim for his courage in confronting the suspected armed robbers.
CP Erale assured the victim that the Police would intensify efforts to track down and arrest the fleeing suspects.
The Commissioner also appealed to members of the public to provide credible information that could assist the Command in preventing and combating crime.
