UGHELLI, Delta State — The Fostering Hopes Foundation has marked its second anniversary with an outreach to the Rose Ilogbo Orphanage Home in Ughelli, Delta Central, bringing relief and excitement to 18 children and their caregivers.
The Foundation’s team, which travelled from Asaba on Tuesday, September 8, 2026, donated essential items to the home, including school bags, books, rice, Indomie noodles, drinks, biscuits, detergents and tissue papers, among other supplies.
Leading the delegation, the Foundation’s Director of Community Engagement and Development, Comrade Patrick Ochei, introduced the organisation’s vision and mission to the management of the orphanage.
Ochei described the visit as divinely orchestrated, urging the management and children to remember in their prayers the Foundation’s Canada-based Executive Director, Nkechi Ukome, for her continued commitment to supporting vulnerable families and children across Delta State.
He said the Foundation remained committed to ensuring that children enrolled in its scholarship scheme enjoyed the opportunities and protections guaranteed under Nigerian child rights laws.
Responding, the Director of the Home, Mrs. Rose Ilogbo, expressed appreciation for the gesture, saying the intervention came at a particularly significant time.
Ilogbo disclosed that she had been praying for assistance, especially school bags and educational materials, ahead of the children’s return to school.
According to her, she never expected such assistance to arrive from Asaba just days before resumption.
She commended the Foundation for responding to the needs of the children and prayed for greater opportunities and resources for the organisation to expand its humanitarian work.
The children, visibly excited by the visit, expressed their appreciation through songs and prayers, as the outreach brought moments of joy to the home.
Other members of the delegation included Pastor Mrs. Ethel Uto, Programme Director, Education Opportunities and Early Childhood Development; Deaconess Mrs. Zeniat Umoru, Programme Director, Family Stability and Support; Mrs. Happiness Godwin, Programme Director, Economic Empowerment; and Miss Onyinyechi Emeka, Social Media Manager.
Volunteers Comrades Michael Ilaya and Dominic Adewole also joined the team and provided support in reporting and transportation during the visit.
