Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, has extended Eid al-Adha greetings to Muslims in Borno State and across Nigeria, urging citizens to embrace the values of sacrifice, compassion, and peaceful coexistence as they celebrate the festival.

Governor Zulum, who is currently in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia performing the Hajj pilgrimage, described Eid al-Adha as a significant period for reflection on the virtues of obedience, selflessness, and devotion exemplified by Prophet Ibrahim (AS).

In a statement issued through his Special Adviser on Media, Dauda Iliya, the governor noted that the occasion provides an opportunity for Muslims to strengthen support for the less privileged and promote unity, tolerance, and mutual understanding within society.

Zulum reaffirmed his administration’s determination to sustain peace and security across Borno State, particularly in resettled communities affected by insurgency.

According to him, the state government will continue to collaborate closely with the military, security agencies, and volunteer groups to maintain stability and ensure the safety of residents.

“We will continue to work closely with security agencies and volunteer forces to ensure lasting peace and tranquility across our communities. Our commitment to security remains unwavering,” the governor stated.

He also assured residents that his administration would intensify efforts toward the resettlement of displaced communities and the empowerment of vulnerable citizens through sustainable livelihood programmes.

“I want to assure our people that more communities will be resettled before the end of this administration, Insha Allah. We will continue to implement empowerment initiatives for displaced and vulnerable persons to enable them become self-reliant and productive members of society,” he added.

Governor Zulum further reiterated his administration’s resolve to complete ongoing developmental projects across the state before the expiration of his tenure.

The governor also commended members and leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for what he described as the peaceful and successful conduct of the party’s primary elections across the state.

According to him, the exercise reflected unity, cooperation, and internal cohesion among party stakeholders and aspirants.

Zulum urged citizens to continue praying for sustainable peace in Borno State and Nigeria, while also calling for peaceful political engagements ahead of the 2027 general elections.

He wished Muslims a peaceful and fulfilling Eid al-Adha celebration and prayed for accepted Hajj for Borno pilgrims currently in the holy land.
