The Ven. Hon. Udumebraye Dave Osiobe has emerged as the consensus candidate of the Accord for the Ughelli South State Constituency ahead of the forthcoming Delta State House of Assembly election.

Osiobe, who was the sole aspirant of the party for the position, was officially declared the party’s candidate following the conclusion of the primary process conducted on Tuesday, May 26, 2026.

The declaration was made by the Returning Officer, Mr. Felix Okei, on behalf of the party’s state primary electoral committee.

A former Accord candidate in the 2023 general election, Osiobe was described by party stakeholders as a grassroots politician with strong leadership qualities and a commitment to good governance and quality representation.

Party officials noted that his emergence reflected the confidence and broad support he enjoys within the party structure in Ughelli South.

Speaking shortly after his emergence, Osiobe expressed appreciation to party members for the confidence reposed in him and pledged to pursue an inclusive and people-oriented campaign.

“I am honoured by the trust and support given to me by the party. My focus remains ensuring that the voices of the people of Ughelli South are properly represented and that meaningful development reaches all communities within the constituency,” he said.

The Accord candidate also reaffirmed his commitment to grassroots engagement, effective representation, and policies aimed at improving the welfare of constituents.

Party leaders expressed optimism that Osiobe’s candidature would strengthen Accord’s position in the forthcoming state assembly election, describing him as a credible and experienced contender capable of mounting a competitive campaign.

With political activities gathering momentum ahead of the polls, attention is now shifting to the general election, where major political parties are expected to battle for control of the Ughelli South State Constituency seat.
