Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, is set to perform the groundbreaking ceremony for the construction of the N29.8 billion, 11-kilometre Aboh–Akarai Road, including a bridge across the Okiri River, in Ndokwa East Local Government Area.
The ceremony is scheduled for Wednesday, May 6, 2026.
The Commissioner for Works (Rural Roads) and Public Information, Charles Aniagwu, disclosed this in a statement issued in Asaba on Tuesday, describing the project as a major milestone in the state government’s drive to strengthen rural infrastructure and improve connectivity.
Aniagwu noted that the Aboh–Akarai Road and bridge project forms part of a broader infrastructure package approved for the Ndokwa/Ukwuani Federal Constituency.
He said the initiative reflects the administration’s commitment to balanced development and improved accessibility for riverine and underserved communities.
He further outlined other road projects earmarked for the constituency, including the Inam–Abbi Road, Ogbedigbo–Afor Road, Ebendo–Iyasele–Abala Road, and the Ogbe-Ogume–Ebendo Road (Phase 1).
Additional projects listed include the access road to the Kwale Free Trade Zone, the Utage–Uno/Eweshi Utagba-Uno Road, Ushie Township Roads, and the Amai–Aragba Road in Ukwuani Local Government Area.
According to the commissioner, the projects are expected to stimulate socio-economic activities, enhance transportation networks, and unlock economic opportunities in rural communities.
The flag-off event is anticipated to draw government officials, traditional rulers, community leaders, and residents from Ndokwa East and neighbouring areas.
