Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has lauded members of the City Boy Movement for their organisation, enthusiasm, and commitment to youth mobilisation, urging them to sustain efforts aimed at promoting leadership and national development.
The governor gave the commendation on Tuesday while receiving the leadership of the movement, led by its National Director-General, Francis Shoga, during a courtesy visit to Government House, Asaba.
Oborevwori acknowledged the growing visibility and influence of the group, noting its active presence across multiple platforms and its extensive outreach initiatives.
He described the movement as a dynamic force contributing to political awareness and youth engagement within and beyond Delta State.
“I commend your passion and the level of organisation you have demonstrated since the inception of this movement. Your activities across the state and nationwide are clearly impactful,” the governor said.
He also praised the group’s support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, describing him as a committed democrat, and encouraged members to intensify efforts in mobilising young people for constructive participation in governance.
Highlighting the critical role of youths in nation-building, Oborevwori noted that the movement reflects a growing confidence among young Nigerians in leadership and reform initiatives.
He emphasised that young people remain key stakeholders in shaping current policies and governance outcomes.
“Your energy, ideas, and sense of purpose are vital to building inclusive and progressive policies. You have shown a strong capacity for mobilisation and advocacy, and we are open to collaboration,” he added.
The governor further commended the movement’s national and state patrons, noting that effective youth mobilisation requires strategic engagement and resilience.
He urged members to remain focused despite challenges or attempts to undermine their efforts.
Oborevwori expressed optimism that the movement’s activities would contribute positively to youth participation in the political process, particularly in supporting the All Progressives Congress (APC) and its candidates in future elections.
Earlier, Shoga described the visit as a demonstration of unity and purpose among Nigerian youths, committed to taking active roles in shaping the country’s future.
He commended the governor’s leadership in Delta State, citing efforts to improve livelihoods and create opportunities for young people.
He explained that the City Boy Movement is a structured, youth-driven platform focused on leadership development, empowerment, and civic engagement.
“The future of Nigeria lies with its young population. This movement is built on the belief that youths must move beyond observation to active participation in governance,” he said.
Shoga disclosed that the movement has expanded significantly, with established structures in over 30 states, including the Federal Capital Territory, and a growing international presence in more than 100 countries.
He added that the group remains committed to mobilising young voters in support of President Tinubu and the APC, while promoting unity, discipline, and purposeful engagement among members.
The visit also featured the formal inauguration of the Delta State chapter of the City Boy Movement, marking a significant milestone in its nationwide expansion.
