Senator Ned Nwoko has outlined key achievements across Delta North Senatorial District, identifying infrastructure, education, healthcare, and economic empowerment as central to his legislative agenda, while signalling plans to consolidate gains ahead of the 2027 political cycle.
In a statement to constituents, the lawmaker said his representation has prioritised measurable impact over rhetoric, with a focus on inclusive and sustained development across communities in the district.
He cited a range of infrastructure projects, including the installation of solar-powered streetlights in both urban and rural areas, aimed at improving security and stimulating economic activity at night.
The senator also referenced the distribution and installation of electricity transformers in several communities to enhance power supply for households and small businesses.
On water access and environmental sustainability, Nwoko highlighted the provision of solar-powered boreholes to improve access to potable water.
He added that erosion control and drainage interventions have been implemented to address flooding and safeguard farmlands and residential areas.
In the education sector, the senator disclosed that classroom construction and rehabilitation projects have been undertaken to improve learning environments.
He noted that 150 students from Delta North have benefited from scholarship programmes, while 1,500 students across the district’s nine local government areas received support for registration in the 2026 Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) examination.
He further revealed expanded scholarship initiatives, including sponsorship for 150 students under a Sports University programme and an additional 500 beneficiaries under a broader scheme extending beyond the district.
Addressing healthcare, Nwoko said medical outreach programmes have provided free consultations, diagnostic services, and medications, particularly in underserved rural communities.
He added that several primary healthcare centres have been upgraded and equipped to improve service delivery.
The senator also pointed to ongoing efforts to combat malaria, including awareness campaigns and improved access to treatment.
He disclosed that a proposed bill to establish a National Malaria Elimination Agency is currently awaiting third reading, describing it as a critical step toward strengthening institutional response to the disease.
On agriculture and economic development, Nwoko said initiatives under his office have supported access to tractors and modern farming tools, promoted fish farming and livestock production, and encouraged cassava processing to boost food security and local value chains.
He also referenced human capital development programmes targeted at youths, women, and small business owners, involving vocational training, financial support, and digital skills acquisition.
Community-based projects such as market construction and modern town hall development were highlighted as part of efforts to stimulate local commerce and civic participation.
Looking ahead, Nwoko stated that his focus remains on expanding ongoing initiatives and ensuring equitable distribution of development projects across all communities in Delta North.
“Our journey is anchored on continuity, stability, and steady progress,” he said, expressing optimism that sustained support from constituents will enable further advancement and deeper impact across the district.
