Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has attributed the achievements recorded by his administration over the past three years to the grace, wisdom, and mercy of God, declaring that the state’s development milestones were accomplished through prudent management of resources and without resorting to borrowing.
The governor made the remarks on Friday at the 2026 Delta State Thanksgiving and Praise Day held at the Dome Event Centre, Asaba, as part of activities marking the third anniversary of his administration.
Addressing a large gathering of political leaders, government officials, traditional rulers, religious leaders, and residents of the state, Oborevwori expressed gratitude to God and the people of Delta State for their support since he assumed office on May 29, 2023.
He described the journey of the administration so far as “eventful, exciting, and enlightening,” noting that the government had remained focused on implementing people-oriented programmes and infrastructure projects aimed at improving the quality of life of citizens across the state.
“Today, we celebrate three years of this administration. It is indeed the Lord’s doing and it is marvelous in our sight. I remain deeply grateful to God for the opportunity to serve the people of Delta State,” the governor said.
Oborevwori stated that despite the challenges encountered over the years, his administration had continued to deliver on its mandate through discipline, transparency, and responsible financial management.
According to him, every project undertaken by the government has been backed by available funds, enabling the state to execute critical development projects and meet contractual obligations without incurring debt.
“We have come to thank God for granting us the wisdom to execute development projects across the state without borrowing a kobo. Every contract awarded by this administration is supported by available resources, and we have consistently fulfilled our obligations to contractors,” he said.
The governor also thanked God for sustaining peace and security in Delta State, describing a stable environment as a critical factor in attracting investments and driving economic growth.
He commended security agencies operating in the state for their commitment to maintaining law and order and acknowledged the contributions of past administrations, particularly those of Chief James Ibori, Dr. Emmanuel Uduaghan, and Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, for laying the foundations upon which his government continues to build.
Oborevwori equally expressed appreciation to the Deputy Governor, Sir Monday Onyeme, members of the Delta State House of Assembly led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Emomotimi Guwor, traditional rulers, religious leaders, civil servants, political appointees, and other stakeholders for their support and partnership in advancing the state’s development agenda.
Calling for greater unity among Deltans, the governor urged citizens to continue supporting the administration as it progresses into the concluding phase of its first tenure.
“Delta State is our collective home. We must continue to work together to build a stronger and more prosperous state. With unity and shared purpose, Delta will continue to set the pace for development in Nigeria,” he said.
