The Senior Special Assistant on Media to Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, and immediate past Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), Delta State Council, Comrade Michael Ikeogwu, has commended the governor’s performance in office, describing his three years in administration as impactful and worthy of a second term.
Ikeogwu, who spoke in an interview while congratulating Governor Oborevwori on his third anniversary in office, said the governor had surpassed public expectations through visible achievements in infrastructure, security, empowerment, and social welfare across the state.
According to him, the level of public acceptance and support currently enjoyed by the governor reflects widespread appreciation for the administration’s developmental strides.
“Governor Oborevwori has performed beyond expectations. The support and goodwill he enjoys today clearly show that Deltans appreciate the impact of his administration. People can see the evidence of governance in their communities,” he said.
He noted that despite prevailing economic challenges across the country, the governor has continued to introduce programmes and policies aimed at cushioning the effects of hardship on residents and improving their living conditions.
“Hunger and economic hardship are national and global realities, not challenges peculiar to Delta State alone. What matters is the response of government, and Governor Oborevwori has demonstrated commitment by implementing programmes that are creating opportunities and positively affecting lives,” Ikeogwu stated.
The media aide also praised the administration’s efforts in maintaining peace and security, attributing the relative stability in Delta State to the governor’s collaboration with traditional rulers, community leaders, and security agencies.
“In the area of security, the governor has done remarkably well. He works closely with traditional rulers, community leaders, and security agencies, providing the necessary support to ensure peace and stability across the state,” he added.
Ikeogwu further stated that ongoing projects across various communities have become visible evidence of the administration’s commitment to development.
“Today, there is hardly any part of the state without ongoing or completed government projects. From roads and drainage to schools, healthcare facilities, and empowerment programmes, the impact is visible. The projects themselves have become strong testimonies of the administration’s performance,” he said.
He maintained that Governor Oborevwori has remained focused on governance despite political developments in the state, adding that the achievements recorded in the last three years represent only a fraction of the administration’s long-term vision.
“What we have seen so far is only the beginning. I strongly believe that if given another opportunity, the governor will consolidate on these achievements and deliver even greater development across Delta State,” Ikeogwu said.
He urged residents to continue supporting the administration and to celebrate the governor’s third anniversary in office, describing the progress recorded so far as the product of purposeful leadership and commitment to service.
“My appeal to Deltans is to continue supporting the governor. The progress being witnessed today is a reflection of focused leadership, and together we can sustain and expand these gains for the benefit of all,” he stated.
Responding to concerns about government publicity, Ikeogwu said information regarding the administration’s projects and programmes is consistently being disseminated through various media platforms.
“Every leader has a unique communication style. What is important is that governance is ongoing and projects are being executed. As more projects are completed, the people will continue to see practical evidence of the administration’s commitment to development,” he said.
He expressed optimism that the Oborevwori administration would continue to strengthen infrastructure, improve security, and expand economic opportunities in line with the governor’s MORE Agenda.
Ikeogwu also prayed for wisdom, good health, and divine guidance for Governor Oborevwori as he continues to steer the affairs of Delta State.
