Urhobo Diaspora In Canada Applauds Oborevwori’s Development Agenda At Cultural Showcase

Members of the Urhobo community in Canada have lauded Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori, for his ongoing development efforts, describing them as a source of pride for Urhobo people both at home and in the diaspora.

The commendation was expressed during a cultural event hosted by the Urhobo Progressive group in Ottawa, held at the Overbrook Community Centre, where Urhobo indigenes and guests from diverse backgrounds gathered to celebrate heritage and unity.

Speakers at the event highlighted the governor’s infrastructural and socio-economic initiatives, noting their positive impact on the global perception of Delta State and the renewed confidence they inspire among diaspora communities.

In a keynote address, Chief Frank Otubue underscored the importance of preserving Urhobo and Isoko cultural identity, while acknowledging the role of effective governance in fostering community pride.

Also speaking, the President of the Urhobo Progress Union in Canada, Evelyn Akpojiyovwi, encouraged continued commitment to the group’s objectives, emphasizing that progress in the homeland strengthens diaspora connections.

Chairman of Urhobo Progressive Ottawa, Prince Raphael Orugbo, called for deeper unity and broader engagement among members.

The event featured rich cultural displays, including traditional music, dance, comedy, and indigenous cuisine, while attendees noted that the gathering not only promoted culture but also provided an avenue to recognize impactful leadership in Delta State.
