At a prize presentation ceremony held in Asaba, OFAAC presented cash awards and recognition plaques to individuals and groups that distinguished themselves during the 20th edition of the annual cultural festival.
Presenting the awards at Orchid Hotel, Asaba, the National President of OFAAC, Arc. Kester Ifeadi, commended participants for their outstanding performances and dedication to showcasing the cultural identity of the Anioma nation.
The Onu Anioma Dance Group emerged overall winner of the festival and received a cash prize of ₦700,000. Addressing guests at the ceremony, Ifeadi described OFAAC as a people-driven institution established to safeguard and promote the cultural values, traditions and heritage of Anioma communities.
He noted that the organisation had remained focused on its mandate over the years, attributing its success to its non-political and non-religious posture.
“OFAAC belongs to the Anioma people and serves as the foremost platform for preserving and advancing our cultural heritage.
“We have transformed the dreams and aspirations of our people into tangible achievements, and our commitment to documenting and protecting our cultural identity remains unwavering,” he said.
The OFAAC President further hailed the 20th edition of the Anioma Cultural Festival as one of the most successful in the event’s history, citing increased participation, improved performance standards and a vibrant display of cultural diversity.
According to him, the festival has continued to evolve beyond competition, becoming a platform for celebrating the uniqueness of Anioma culture and strengthening communal pride among the people.
“This year’s festival has been exceptional in terms of participation and quality of performances.
“Our objective is not just to crown winners but to create a platform where our culture is proudly showcased and celebrated. We are committed to ensuring that every participant has a rewarding experience in future editions,” he added.
Ifeadi also expressed appreciation to the Delta State Government and other corporate partners whose support contributed significantly to the success of the festival.
He specifically acknowledged Grand Oak Distillers Limited, producers of Seaman’s Aromatic Schnapps, MTN, Wema Bank and Contemporary Group Limited for their sustained partnership with OFAAC.
Reflecting on the organisation’s journey, he paid tribute to its founding patrons, including the late Asagba of Asaba, Prof. Chike Edozien; late Sir Fortune Ebie; late Chief B.S.C. Elue; and late Omu Martha Dunkwu, whose vision and contributions laid the foundation for OFAAC’s growth and enduring relevance.
He equally honoured the memories of pioneering directors, including late Mrs. Ella Nwabueze, late Mr. Gideon Nwaomu and late Hon. Emeke Nmadu, acknowledging their invaluable service to the advancement of Anioma culture.
