Renowned peace ambassador, environmental rights activist and development advocate, Chief (Comrade) Sheriff Mulade, PhD, has congratulated the people of Okuama Community in Ughelli South Local Government Area of Delta State following the recent judgment of the Federal High Court in Warri concerning detainees linked to the Okuama military incident.

Mulade described the court’s decision as a significant milestone in the pursuit of justice, healing and reconciliation, noting that the judgment has rekindled hope among affected families and strengthened public confidence in the nation’s judicial system.

In a statement made available to journalists, the peace advocate commended the judiciary for upholding the principles of fairness, due process and the rule of law, stressing that the development marks a positive step toward restoring normalcy and fostering unity among affected communities.

According to him, sustainable peace remains the bedrock of development, economic prosperity and social stability, urging all stakeholders to embrace dialogue and reconciliation as pathways to lasting progress.

“The judgment offers renewed hope to the people and reinforces the importance of justice in a democratic society. It is now imperative for all parties to remain calm, law-abiding and committed to the collective pursuit of peace and development,” he said.

Mulade specifically appealed to the people of Okuama and neighbouring communities to seize the opportunity presented by the court’s ruling to deepen reconciliation, strengthen mutual trust and promote harmonious coexistence.

He noted that the unfortunate circumstances surrounding the Okuama crisis should serve as a lesson to communities across Delta State on the importance of peaceful conflict resolution, constructive engagement and understanding in addressing disputes.

The environmental rights advocate further urged community leaders, youth groups, women and other critical stakeholders to work together in rebuilding relationships and creating an atmosphere conducive to growth, stability and development.

“Peace is the foundation upon which meaningful development is built. I therefore urge the good people of Okuama and their neighbours to embrace forgiveness, unity and mutual respect, and work together for the advancement of their communities and Delta State as a whole,” Mulade stated.

Expressing optimism about the future, he said genuine commitment to peace and reconciliation would enable the affected communities to emerge stronger, more united and better positioned to attract sustainable development opportunities.

Mulade also offered prayers for continued peace, security and prosperity in Delta State and the wider Niger Delta region, while encouraging residents to support initiatives that promote justice, harmony and community development.

The development advocate further called on Deltans to continue supporting the administration of Governor Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, noting that collective support and cooperation would help the government consolidate on its developmental strides and deliver on its promises for the overall benefit of the people.
