The Delta State Police Command has commenced activities to mark the 2026 International Youth Day with a sensitisation and community engagement programme at Koka Junction, Asaba.
The engagement, held on Thursday, August 20, formed part of the Nigeria Police Force’s National Youth Leadership and Security Initiative, anchored on the campaign theme, “My Future Is Greater Than Political and Digital Thuggery.”
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, alongside senior officers, interacted with youths, commercial transport operators and other members of the public on the dangers of crime, violence, political thuggery and the irresponsible use of digital platforms.
CP Oyeniyi urged young people to reject criminality and attempts by individuals or groups to exploit them for political and other unlawful activities.
He encouraged the youths to embrace responsible citizenship, positive leadership and productive ventures, stressing that their aspirations and future should not be jeopardised by criminal or political interests.
The Command said the engagement underscores its commitment to strengthening police-community relations while promoting youth participation in efforts to build a safer and more peaceful society.
