Delta Police Foil Kidnap Plot, Bust Drug Networks In Statewide Operations

The Delta State Police Command has recorded significant operational successes in its ongoing crackdown on criminal activities, including the foiling of a suspected kidnap plot and the disruption of illicit drug networks through coordinated raids across the state.

In a major breakthrough, operatives of the Otorerokpe Division, acting on credible intelligence, raided a suspected drug den in Ugholo community on April 15, 2026, at about 10:23pm.

During the operation, a 33-year-old female suspect, identified as Justina Onokpasa, was apprehended.

A substantial cache of suspected hard drugs was recovered at the scene, including large quantities of substances believed to be Canadian Loud, codeine, tramadol, and other illicit drugs, alongside hundreds of empty containers suspected to be used for distribution.

In a related development, operatives of the State Anti-Cult Unit (SACU) carried out a separate raid on identified drug hotspots in Abraka on April 16, 2026, at about 11:45am.

The operation led to the arrest of three suspects, with security agents recovering significant quantities of substances suspected to be Indian hemp and other prohibited drugs.

All suspects are currently in custody as investigations continue.
Commending the professionalism and diligence of the operatives, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, reiterated the Command’s unwavering commitment to sustaining the momentum against crime.

He also called on residents to continue supporting law enforcement agencies with timely and credible information to enhance public safety.

The Delta State Police Command reaffirmed its resolve to rid the state of criminal elements and ensure a safer environment for all citizens.
