The Delta State Police Command has recorded major operational successes in its ongoing crackdown on fraud, drug trafficking, and other criminal activities across the state, following coordinated intelligence-led raids that led to the arrest of suspected fraudsters and narcotics dealers, as well as the recovery of counterfeit foreign currency and illicit drugs.

Arrest of Five-Man Fraud Syndicate, Recovery of Counterfeit Dollars

On June 9, 2026, operatives of the Special Anti-Kidnapping Unit, acting on credible intelligence, placed a suspected fraud network under surveillance over alleged involvement in financial scams using counterfeit United States dollar bills.

The syndicate was reportedly operating with a red unregistered Mercedes-Benz GLK SUV while targeting unsuspecting members of the public.

The operation culminated in the arrest of four suspects identified as Joshua Nwaosa, Daniel Arhewe, Prince Chukwuma, and John Egwuba along Nnebisi Road in Asaba.

During interrogation, the suspects reportedly confessed to operating from a hideout within the city, prompting a follow-up raid by police operatives.

A search of the premises led to the recovery of One Thousand Six Hundred (1,600) counterfeit United States dollar bills, alongside military camouflage items allegedly concealed within the location.

The Command stated that investigations are ongoing to uncover additional collaborators and the full extent of the syndicate’s operations.

Two Suspected Female Drug Dealers Arrested in Separate Operation

In a separate intelligence-driven operation on the same date at about 11:15 a.m., operatives of the Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU) stormed Owaliru and Alihame communities in Ika North-East Local Government Area.

Two female suspects, identified as Ifeoma Egbule (36) and Anayeokwu Florence (51), were arrested in possession of various suspected illicit substances.

Items recovered include GH Gold, Colorado, Cannabis, and Canadian Loud, which were allegedly packaged for distribution within the communities.

Preliminary investigations indicate that the suspects were actively involved in the supply and distribution of banned substances in the area. Authorities say efforts are ongoing to trace and apprehend other members of the drug network.

Police Reaffirm Commitment to Intelligence-Led Policing

The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, psc, acipm, mnips, commended the officers involved in the operations for their professionalism, vigilance, and dedication to duty.

He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to sustaining intelligence-driven policing strategies aimed at dismantling criminal syndicates and enhancing public safety across the state.

The Command urged residents to continue providing credible information to security agencies to support ongoing efforts to rid communities of criminal elements.
