The Zamfara State chapter of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC) has donated ₦500,000 to victims and families affected by the recent bandit attack on Kasuwar Daji in Kaura Namoda Local Government Area, while calling for urgent and decisive measures to address the worsening security situation in the state.
The donation was presented during a sympathy visit by a high-level delegation of the party to the affected community, where an unspecified number of residents were abducted by armed bandits in the latest wave of attacks.
In a statement issued after the visit and signed by the NDC State Publicity Secretary, Kasim Almustapha Kayatawa, the party expressed solidarity with the people of Kasuwar Daji and other communities grappling with persistent banditry across Zamfara.
The statement said the intervention was intended to provide immediate support to victims while drawing attention to the urgent need for both the Federal Government and the Zamfara State Government to strengthen efforts to restore security and protect vulnerable communities.
Leading the delegation, the party’s State Deputy Chairman, Alhaji Atiku Durbi Birnin Magaji, described the attack as tragic and unacceptable, saying the growing wave of violence had continued to inflict untold hardship on innocent citizens.
According to him, the visit was not only to provide financial assistance but also to reassure affected residents that they were not alone in their moment of grief.
He noted that every attack leaves behind families torn apart, livelihoods destroyed, and communities living under constant fear, stressing that urgent intervention was required to reverse the trend.
The NDC deputy chairman urged security agencies to intensify intelligence gathering, strengthen security operations, and deploy more personnel to Kaura Namoda and other identified flashpoints across Zamfara State.
He maintained that safeguarding lives and property remains the fundamental responsibility of government, adding that residents deserved practical security measures that would enable them to return safely to their farms, businesses, and daily activities.
Magaji also called for sustained security patrols across vulnerable communities to deter further attacks, restore public confidence, and curb the rising incidence of abductions.
The delegation offered prayers for the safe return of those abducted, eternal rest for those who lost their lives, speedy recovery for the injured, and divine protection for security personnel risking their lives in the fight against criminal elements.
Members of the delegation included Deputy State Welfare Secretary, Hon. Salmanu Sani Haidara; Zonal Vice Chairman, Zamfara North, Auwal Alhassan Alhazzai; and other party leaders and stakeholders.
Reaffirming its commitment to the people of Zamfara, the NDC said it would continue to advocate policies and actions aimed at promoting peace, justice, security, and improved welfare for citizens.
The latest attack on Kasuwar Daji has further heightened concerns over the persistent insecurity in northern Zamfara, with residents renewing calls for stronger government intervention to protect rural communities from recurring bandit attacks.
