The Emir of Gwoza, Alhaji Mohammed Shehu Mustapha Idrissa Timta, on Sunday led a delegation of traditional rulers, political leaders and stakeholders from the Gwoza Emirate to the Borno State Government House, where they expressed support for the All Progressives Congress (APC) deputy governorship candidate, Hon. Ali Isa Abdullahi, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The solidarity visit followed the recent emergence of Engineer Mustapha Gubio as the APC governorship candidate and Hon. Ali Isa Abdullahi as his running mate, a development the delegation described as widely accepted across the emirate.
The visit came a day after the Emir of Biu, Alhaji Mustapha Umar Mustapha II, accompanied by 27 district heads and other stakeholders, paid a similar courtesy visit to Governor Babagana Umara Zulum to endorse the party’s ticket.
Speaking during the meeting, the Emir of Gwoza said the people of the emirate were united behind the APC candidates, expressing confidence that they possessed the leadership qualities required to consolidate the developmental gains recorded under the current administration.
He noted that Engineer Gubio’s previous role as Commissioner for Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement enabled him to work closely with Governor Zulum in rebuilding communities devastated by insurgency, including Gwoza town.
The monarch also praised Hon. Ali Isa Abdullahi for his commitment to public service, describing him as a dependable and competent leader who had earned the trust and confidence of the people.
Responding, Governor Zulum thanked the Emir and members of the delegation for the visit, describing it as a strong demonstration of unity and support for the APC leadership in the state.
The governor said the endorsement reflected the confidence reposed in Hon. Ali Isa Abdullahi by his people, adding that the emergence of both APC candidates was in accordance with divine will.
He urged party leaders, stakeholders and supporters to remain united and continue praying for the success of the APC ticket in the 2027 elections.
Governor Zulum also reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to completing the resettlement of communities displaced by insurgency, announcing plans to build a modern school on the site of the former Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp after the relocation of its occupants.
According to him, the evacuation of displaced persons is progressing steadily, while efforts to restore normalcy in the remaining affected communities will continue until all residents have safely returned to their ancestral homes.
Among those present at the meeting were the APC governorship candidate, Engineer Mustapha Gubio; deputy governorship candidate, Hon. Ali Isa Abdullahi; Senators Mohammed Ali Ndume and Barrister Kaka Shehu Lawan; members of the House of Representatives, Abdulkadir Rahis and Engineer Bukar Talba; APC State Chairman, Alhaji Bello Ayuba; and other senior party officials.
