The Kaduna State Vigilance Service (KADVS) has arrested a suspected armed criminal and recovered a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, a pistol and other items during a routine security patrol in the state.
The Commander of KADVS, retired Commissioner of Police Ali D. Audu, disclosed the development in a statement issued by the agency’s Public Relations Officer, Yunusa Shehu Ibrahim.
According to the statement, the operation forms part of ongoing efforts under Governor Uba Sani’s SUSTAIN Agenda to strengthen security and protect lives and property across Kaduna State.
The suspect, identified as Samson Ayuba, a native of Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, was intercepted by KADVS operatives during a patrol operation.
A search conducted after his arrest led to the recovery of a locally fabricated AK-47 rifle, a locally made pistol, a mobile phone, a power bank and an undisclosed sum of cash.
The Commander said the suspect and all recovered exhibits have been handed over to Operation Fushin Kada for further investigation and possible prosecution in line with established security procedures.
Audu said the seizure of the improvised firearms highlights the changing tactics of criminal elements, stressing that KADVS remains committed to working alongside the Nigeria Police Force, the military and other security agencies to combat crime, safeguard critical infrastructure and maintain public safety.
He also acknowledged Governor Uba Sani’s continued support for the state’s security architecture, noting that investments in security institutions have enhanced their operational effectiveness and response to emerging threats.
The agency urged members of the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with security operatives by providing credible and timely information on suspicious persons and activities capable of threatening peace and security in the state.
