A former Acting Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in Rivers State, Robinson Ewor, has alleged that Governor Siminalayi Fubara removed the Secretary to the State Government (SSG) and his Chief of Staff as part of a political agreement reached with the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike.

Ewor made the allegation during an interview on Arise Television on Thursday, where he claimed the appointments were among the concessions agreed upon in efforts to end the prolonged political crisis in Rivers State following the lifting of the state of emergency imposed by President Bola Tinubu.

According to him, the agreement required the removal of the former Secretary to the State Government, Benibo Anabraba, and the former Chief of Staff, Edison Ehie, from office.

He further alleged that Governor Fubara also undertook not to seek a second term in office as part of the political understanding reached during the reconciliation process.

Ewor accused the governor of failing to disclose the full details of the alleged agreement to his loyalists, many of whom had stood firmly behind him throughout his political rift with Wike.

Governor Fubara had, in February, relieved Anabraba and Ehie of their positions before appointing new officials to the offices.

The latest allegation comes amid renewed political developments in Rivers State after Fubara publicly announced his reconciliation with Wike.

The governor recently declared that he had returned to the political camp of the former Rivers State governor and urged his supporters to align with candidates endorsed by the FCT minister ahead of future elections.

Neither Governor Fubara nor his administration has responded to Ewor’s latest claims as of the time of filing this report.
