ASABA, Delta State – The Delta State Police Command, in partnership with the Nigeria Police Force Trust Fund (NPFTF), has empowered 100 wives of junior police officers through a vocational skills acquisition programme aimed at promoting self-reliance and improving the economic well-being of police families.
The four-day training programme, which focused on tailoring and hairdressing, saw 79 participants trained in tailoring and 21 in hairdressing.
At the end of the programme, each beneficiary received a starter kit in her chosen trade to support the establishment of sustainable businesses.
Representing the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi,, Onyeniyi, Adejobi, at the closing ceremony, the Deputy Commissioner of Police in charge of Operations, DCP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, commended the participants for their dedication and commitment throughout the training.
He urged the beneficiaries to make productive use of the knowledge and equipment provided, continually improve their skills, and build viable businesses capable of enhancing the welfare of their families.
Adejobi also encouraged the women to remain steadfast in supporting and praying for their husbands as they continue to carry out the demanding responsibility of safeguarding lives and property across the country.
Speaking at the event, the Team Lead of the Nigeria Police Force Trust Fund, Mr. Charles Omorogiuwa, described the initiative as part of the Trust Fund’s commitment to strengthening the welfare of police families through sustainable empowerment programmes.
He explained that the initiative was implemented under the leadership of the Executive Secretary of the Nigeria Police Force Trust Fund, Mr. Mohammed Sheidu, and urged beneficiaries to maximise the opportunity by establishing themselves in their respective vocations.
Also speaking, the President of the Police Officers’ Wives Association (POWA), Delta State Chapter, Mrs. Rosemary Adejo, appreciated the Nigeria Police Force Trust Fund for the intervention and encouraged the beneficiaries to remain committed to the trades they had acquired.
In his remarks, the Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the Nigeria Police Force Trust Fund for its sustained investment in the welfare of police families through impactful empowerment initiatives.
According to the Commissioner, improving the economic capacity of police families complements the Nigeria Police Force’s personnel welfare efforts, boosts officers’ morale, and promotes stronger and more resilient homes for those serving the nation.
