BENIN CITY — Edo State Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, has approved the deployment of two newly inaugurated commissioners and the redeployment of three members of the State Executive Council as part of efforts to enhance administrative efficiency and strengthen service delivery.
The changes, announced by the Secretary to the State Government, Umar Musa Ikhilor, in a Government Special Announcement, take immediate effect.
Under the new arrangement, Mr. Iriabekhai Kayode Jeffery has been assigned to the Ministry of Mining, while Mr. Martin Anayochukwu Oli will oversee the newly established Ministry of Inter-Ethnic Relations.
The state government said the new ministry was created to promote peaceful coexistence among Edo’s diverse ethnic and community groups, foster stronger inter-community relations and leverage the state’s diversity for sustainable development and unity.
The governor also approved the redeployment of three commissioners to new portfolios in line with the administration’s objective of aligning responsibilities with their experience, expertise and competencies.
Mr. Ohimai Ehijimetor, who previously served as Commissioner for Communications, has been moved to the Ministry of Livestock Development.
His successor at the ministry, Prof. Omorodion Ikponmwosa, has been redeployed from Livestock Development to the Ministry of Oil and Gas.
Similarly, Mr. Andrew Momodu, the former Commissioner for Oil and Gas, has been reassigned to the Ministry of Communications.
The affected commissioners have been directed to ensure a smooth transition and immediate assumption of responsibilities in their new ministries.
Governor Okpebholo charged members of the State Executive Council to approach their assignments with renewed dedication, professionalism and a strong commitment to delivering results.
He reaffirmed his administration’s resolve to provide responsive, efficient and people-centred governance while improving the quality of service delivery across Edo State.
