Fresh concerns have emerged over the fate of four Nigerians who remain in captivity months after they were abducted by suspected kidnappers along the Okigwe axis while returning from a burial ceremony in Anambra State.
The victims, identified as Barr. Okeoghene Adhekegba, Chief Ucheoma Amaechi, Samson and Inspector Abubakar, were reportedly kidnapped on May 9, 2026, while travelling from a friend’s burial in Ndikelionwu, Orumba South Local Government Area of Anambra State.
According to information released by concerned friends and associates of the victims, the abductors have remained silent for an extended period despite the payment of ransom, contrary to an earlier promise to release those in captivity.
The development has heightened fears among family members, friends and well-wishers, who say they have been left in anguish over the uncertainty surrounding the victims’ whereabouts and safety.
In a desperate effort to secure their rescue, the group announced a ₦3 million reward for any credible information that could lead to the location and safe recovery of the abducted persons.
The appeal urged members of the public with useful intelligence to come forward, assuring that all information would be treated with utmost confidentiality.
“The families are passing through an extremely difficult period. We appeal to anyone with genuine information that can assist security agencies in rescuing the victims to speak up. Every useful lead could make the difference,” the statement said.

The prolonged captivity of the four victims has again drawn attention to the persistent security challenges facing travellers on some major highways across the country, with renewed calls on security agencies to intensify efforts to secure their unconditional release and bring those responsible to justice.
The rescue campaign continues as families, friends and associates express hope that public cooperation and sustained security operations will lead to the safe return of the victims.
