Five years after the Department of State Services (DSS) raided his residence in Ibadan, Yoruba nation agitator , popularly known as Sunday Igboho, has dismissed claims that he transformed into a cat to evade arrest.
Speaking on the controversial July 1, 2021 operation, Igboho described the widely circulated story as false, insisting he never used supernatural means to escape the security operatives.
According to him, the DSS operatives encountered a cat during the raid and mistakenly believed it was him.
He alleged that the officers killed the animal after concluding that he had transformed into it to avoid capture.
Igboho further claimed that the operatives brought along a man he described as a fake herbalist, who allegedly performed rituals and chanted incantations throughout the operation in an attempt to uncover his whereabouts.
He maintained that he remained inside the house during the raid, watching the events unfold without being detected by the security personnel.
Reflecting on the incident, Igboho said the operatives conducted an extensive search of the premises but were unable to find him despite the lengthy operation.
His comments come five years after the high-profile DSS raid, which sparked widespread public debate and gave rise to numerous speculations about how he escaped arrest.
