We Need Ned Now, Dr. Ebi Waboke Applauds Senator Ned Nwoko as Delta’s Most Impactful Legislator

Dr. Ebi Franklyn Waboke, former Deputy Clerk of the Delta State House of Assembly (DTHA) and 2023 House of Representatives candidate under the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has named Senator Ned Munir Nwoko as the most outstanding legislator in Delta State, describing him as “the only one working” amidst a climate of legislative inertia.

In a strongly worded public statement titled “We Need Ned Now,” Dr. Waboke commended Senator Nwoko’s sustained visibility, legislative engagement, and impact, noting that his performance stands in stark contrast to what he described as the “deafening silence” from many other elected officials since the 2023 general elections.

“Senator Ned Nwoko is, without question, the Delta Legislator of the Years 2023 to 2025,” Waboke asserted. “While many of his peers have retreated into political hibernation, he has remained vocal, visible, and vigorously legislative. He speaks, he acts, and, most importantly, he delivers.”

Waboke did not shy away from addressing what he characterized as a campaign of politically motivated attacks against Senator Nwoko, alleging that the senator’s principled refusal to align with corrupt political interests has made him a target.

“It is this same man, committed to accountability and reform, that some now seek to discredit, precisely because he refused to join the corrupt political cartel,” Waboke said. “But this is not surprising. When one man dares to shine, the shadows become restless.”

The former legislative officer also issued a public challenge, urging citizens to hold their representatives to higher standards and to demand visible, measurable service from those in office.

“Where are your councillors? Where are your state lawmakers? Your federal representatives?” Waboke asked. “What bills have they sponsored? What motions have they raised? Where is the evidence of their oversight responsibility?”

Highlighting the contrast in performance, Waboke maintained that Senator Nwoko’s commitment to legislative duty and public service has distinguished him as a singular figure in Delta politics.

“Ned Nwoko stands alone in terms of consistency and results and that’s exactly why he is under attack,” he said. “But the people are not blind. We see the truth and speak it clearly: We Need Ned Now.”

The statement has stirred renewed public discourse on the state of legislative representation in Delta State, with many observers echoing Waboke’s sentiments and positioning Senator Nwoko as a benchmark of effective public service since the return of democracy in 1999.
