There were emotional scenes at the Delta State Government House, Asaba, as Governor Sheriff Oborevwori swore in newly appointed commissioners, including Hon. Moses Ogodo, with one touching moment leaving many guests visibly moved.
The ceremony took an emotional turn shortly after the commissioners took their oaths of office.
As Ogodo approached the governor to express his appreciation, he became overwhelmed with emotion and broke down in tears.
In a gesture of gratitude, the newly inaugurated commissioner attempted to kneel before Governor Oborevwori. However, the governor immediately stopped him, urging him to remain standing.
“Don’t kneel before me. Stand up. We are here to serve Deltans together,” the governor told the visibly emotional commissioner.
The governor’s intervention drew applause from dignitaries and guests at the ceremony, as many described the exchange as a demonstration of humility, mutual respect and the shared responsibility of public service.
Ogodo, who struggled to contain his emotions, wiped tears from his face as the event continued, while fellow commissioners and government officials congratulated him on his appointment.
The inauguration officially ushered the new commissioners into the Delta State Executive Council, where they are expected to support the implementation of the Oborevwori administration’s MORE Agenda and other development initiatives across the state.
The ceremony was attended by top government officials, political leaders, family members and supporters who gathered to witness the formal inauguration of the new members of the State Executive Council.
