The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency has intensified its environmental sanitation and enforcement operations across the state capital territory as part of preparations for the third anniversary of the administration of Governor Sheriff Oborevwori.
The large-scale cleanup exercise, which focused on environmental compliance and the evacuation of illegal refuse dumps, was personally supervised by the Director General of the agency, Patrick Ukah, alongside the Head of Environment, Isaac Nwosu.
Areas covered during the operation included Summit Road, Anwai/Government House Road, Okpanam Road, Airport Road along the Benin-Asaba Expressway, Maryam Babangida Way, Cabinet Road, High Court Road, Anwai Road, and Government House Road.
The exercise involved sweeping of major roads, litter picking, inspection of business premises, issuance of environmental notices, and evacuation of illegal refuse dumps to government-approved disposal sites.
Particular attention was given to the removal of refuse heaps along Summit Road, Okpanam Road, Anwai/Government House Road, and the Airport axis of the Benin-Asaba Expressway, while sweeping operations continued simultaneously in several parts of the capital territory.
Speaking during the exercise, Ukah reaffirmed the agency’s commitment to promoting a cleaner, safer, and more organised environment in line with the urban renewal vision of the Oborevwori administration.
He urged residents, traders, and business owners to support government efforts by complying with environmental sanitation regulations and adopting proper waste disposal practices.
The agency disclosed that the enforcement and sanitation exercise would continue in the coming days as part of sustained efforts to improve environmental cleanliness and orderliness across the capital territory.
