Former Delta State Governor, Senator Ifeanyi Okowa, has called on leaders of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Delta State to promote inclusiveness and reconciliation as the party begins preparations for the 2027 general elections.
Okowa made the call on Friday while addressing an enlarged meeting of APC leaders, stakeholders and loyalists from Delta North Senatorial District.
The former governor urged party leaders at the state, local government, ward and unit levels not to marginalise members who express opposing views or criticise the leadership, stressing that every member has a role to play in strengthening the party.
He said effective leadership requires listening to diverse voices and ensuring that no individual or community feels excluded from the political process.
“Our greatest responsibility is to listen, to include, and to remain connected to those we have been called to serve.
“Every community matters, every voice deserves to be heard, and every stakeholder has a role to play in building a stronger and more united Delta North,” Okowa said.
He further urged party members to place the collective interest of Delta North above personal differences, particularly as political activities ahead of the 2027 elections intensify.
Okowa also appealed to those who may have offended one another in the course of political activities to embrace reconciliation, forgiveness and a fresh start.
He said apologies should be offered where necessary, while party members should be willing to forgive one another in the interest of unity and progress.
“As we move forward, may we continue to lead with humility, strengthen our bonds of unity, and place the interests of our people above all else,” he added.
The meeting provided an opportunity for APC stakeholders in Delta North to reflect on the party’s internal cohesion and the need for greater cooperation as preparations for the 2027 political cycle gather momentum.
