The newly elected National Treasurer of the Ijaw National Congress (INC), Double Chief (Comrade) Mulade Sheriff (PhD), has expressed profound gratitude to stakeholders across the Ijaw Nation for their overwhelming support during the April 13, 2026 national elections.
In a statement, Mulade extended appreciation to the outgoing INC President, Benjamin Okaba, members of the National Executive Council (NEC), the 2026 National Electoral Committee chaired by His Royal Majesty, F. F. Tabai, as well as national delegates and the broader Ijaw populace for the confidence reposed in him.
He described his emergence as a collective mandate, emphasizing that the trust placed in him represents a call to higher responsibility, integrity, and dedicated service.
Mulade pledged to work closely with members of the executive council under the leadership of Macdonald Igbadiwei, alongside critical stakeholders, to entrench transparency, accountability, and prudent financial management within the congress.
“I am deeply honoured by this mandate and remain committed to upholding the highest standards of accountability in the discharge of my duties,” he stated.
The newly elected treasurer further assured of his resolve to contribute meaningfully to strengthening the INC, while promoting unity, progress, and sustainable development across the Ijaw Nation.
A renowned environmentalist and peace advocate, Mulade also reaffirmed his commitment to supporting initiatives aimed at repositioning the congress as a more impactful institution in advancing the socio-cultural and political interests of the Ijaw people.
He added that the INC is poised to evolve beyond a conventional socio-cultural organisation into a more productive platform, with a strategic focus on creating business opportunities for the people and the Niger Delta region.
According to him, this vision includes the establishment of INC-driven agricultural ventures, fishing ports, and expanded corporate and administrative employment opportunities through constructive engagement with multinational companies operating within Ijawland.
