The Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA) has intensified its environmental sanitation campaign in Asaba, deploying personnel to strategic parts of the capital city to clear blocked drainage channels, overgrown vegetation, sand and accumulated refuse.
The ongoing intervention, which began on Tuesday, is aimed at improving drainage flow, keeping major roads clean and enhancing the overall appearance of the state capital.
Among the locations receiving attention are the link road connecting Maryam Babangida Way and DBS Road, Anwai Road from the Government House Gate to Camp 74 Junction, DBS Road, the link road between DBS Road and WAEC Road, and Jesus Saves Road.
The Agency is also undertaking desilting and clearing operations at the Squash Club Road Drain and NTA Road drains, with excavated silt, refuse and other debris being evacuated to government-approved disposal sites.
The exercise is being closely monitored by the Director-General of DSCTDA, Mr Patrick Ukah, alongside the Head of Environment, Mr Isaac Nwosu, to ensure effective coverage of the identified locations.
The intervention forms part of the Agency’s broader environmental management efforts to maintain functional drainage infrastructure, reduce the risk of flooding and promote a cleaner and healthier urban environment.
DSCTDA said the operation would be extended to other identified areas as part of its sustained commitment to improving environmental standards and making Asaba cleaner, safer and more attractive for residents and visitors.
