Delta State Governor, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori, has approved the appointment of Hon. Chief Henry Afure Sakpra as the General Manager of the Delta State Social Investment Programme, effective immediately.
The appointment was announced in a statement issued by the Secretary to the State Government, Dr. Kingsley Emu.
According to the statement, the appointment is in accordance with the provisions of the Delta State Social Investment Programme Law, 2025, which established the programme to address poverty, hunger and other forms of social deprivation among residents of the state without discrimination.
The programme is also mandated to improve the socio-economic well-being of Deltans, particularly those at the grassroots, through timely delivery of interventions designed to reduce and alleviate poverty.
The law further empowers the programme to undertake other initiatives considered necessary to achieve its objectives.
The appointment of Sakpra, the statement noted, is part of efforts by the Oborevwori administration to strengthen the institutional structure of the programme, deepen social inclusion and expand opportunities for citizens across the state.
The development is also expected to advance the implementation of the administration’s MORE Agenda, particularly its focus on improving the welfare and living conditions of Deltans.
