ASABA, Delta State — Twenty-two suspected cultists arrested in separate operations in Eku and Owhelogbo communities of Delta State have been arraigned before two courts and ordered to be remanded in correctional custody pending further proceedings.
The suspects were arraigned on allegations bordering on conspiracy and membership of an unlawful society, specifically the Supreme Vikings Confraternity, also known as “Arobag.”
The Delta State Police Command disclosed this in a statement issued on Friday, October 2, 2026, by the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Bright Edafe.
According to the Command, 15 of the suspects were earlier arrested in Eku Community and subsequently taken into custody by operatives of the Command Anti-Cult Unit (CACU), Sector 2, Ozoro.
The 15 suspects were arraigned before the Federal High Court, Warri, on September 25, 2026, following investigation into the allegations against them.
Similarly, seven other suspects arrested in Owhelogbo Community by operatives of the CACU were arraigned before a Chief Magistrate Court.
The respective courts subsequently ordered that the suspects be remanded in correctional custody pending further proceedings.
Among those arraigned are Best Enarisa, 45; Alex David, 33; Precious Onokponu, 30; Joel Odafe, 19; Zino Oghene, 33; Oghenero Gabriel, 35; and Ofego Omaoke, 25, alongside other suspects.
The police said the arrests and arraignments formed part of ongoing efforts by the Command to curb cultism and other criminal activities across the state.
The Commissioner of Police, Delta State Command, CP Samuel E. Erale, reiterated the Command’s commitment to pursuing cult-related cases beyond arrest through diligent investigation and prosecution in accordance with the law.
Erale also warned persons involved in cult-related activities to desist, while urging parents, community leaders and other stakeholders to provide credible and timely information capable of helping the police prevent cult-related activities and associated violence across the state.
The Command assured residents that it would continue to take lawful measures to tackle cultism and other forms of criminality across Delta State.
