Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have arrested three suspected armed men and recovered two pump-action guns alongside seven live cartridges during a strategic stop-and-search operation at the Head Bridge in Asaba.

The operation was carried out by officers attached to the Buffalo Patrol Team of the Command as part of ongoing efforts to strengthen security surveillance and combat the movement of illegal arms across the state.

According to a statement issued by the Police Public Relations Officer of the Command, SP Bright Edafe, the suspects were intercepted on May 6, 2026, at about 7:06 p.m. while officers were conducting a routine operation at the Head Bridge, which serves as a boundary corridor between Delta and Anambra states.

The statement disclosed that the operatives stopped a black Toyota Land Cruiser Jeep with registration number ABJ 254 CD for routine checks.

The occupants of the vehicle were identified as Chukwu Emeka Okeke, 30; Ndudo Tochukwu, 37; and Oraka Kaosiso Chukwu, 34.

Acting on reasonable suspicion, the police operatives conducted a thorough search of the vehicle during which two pump-action guns loaded with seven live cartridges were allegedly recovered.

The suspects were immediately arrested and taken into custody for further investigation.

The Delta State Commissioner of Police, CP Yemi Oyeniyi, commended the officers for their alertness, professionalism, and commitment to proactive policing.

He reiterated the Command’s determination to sustain intelligence-driven operations and strategic policing initiatives aimed at curbing criminal activities and preventing the circulation of illegal firearms within the state.
