The Church workers whom she identified as Warders, intercepted her and asked her to go back due to her dressing which they considered as “Naked”.
Angel, who couldn’t stand the embarrassment and shame she suffered in the hands of the Warders on Sunday 4th October 2020, expressed ill feelings over how she was treated.
According to her, she decided to attend Church to worship her maker today, but she was denied access to the Church due to her dressing.
She narrated that the Warders were shouting that she should go out that she was naked.
“Today that I decided to go to church. My look to church today in awada onitsha. The church warders sent me back.
“They refused me entering the church, saying I should go and look for a jacket or a scarf to cover my shoulder. Shouting that I’m naked”.
She noted that she obeyed the directive without any argument, as she went home to take her siesta.
“I didn’t even talk to them. I just jejely and happily carry my legs and went back. let me go and sleep biko”, she added.
But in a swift reactions from social media users, some condemned the action of the Church and the Warders while some took a swipe on her and her supporters.
Chika Ewulezi, who made comment on Mbanefo Nkiru Angela’s post, took her to the public drycleaner, admonishing her to totally embrace Jesus Christ.
“A church is not a place for beauty contest. If you want to Follow Christ ,my sister you have to deny yourself. What you want or how you feel does not mean anything to Him because He has a thought of peace for you and not of evil.He want to give you expected end.If He live inside of you.
“You will certainly feel bad whenever you are on the wrong track. You are running your own race…run it well with the help of the holy spirit. Don’t act to please people but strive to be in good relationship with God and disobedience in not for God rather is for the devil. Decide where you belong by yourself. Whose image are you?
Another user, Juliet Ugochi, said: “It depends on the church you attend, and their dos and donts.
“You can’t wear something like this at st peter’s chaplaincy Unn , you will just be sent back”.
Nemzyville Aondona, advised her to look for a Church whose way of life is similar to her, “Every church has their doctrine, look for the one you can cope wit. If you are a member of white garment church you should know that even if you buy a Versace of N100k you can’t wear it to church.
“if you are a lover of makeups Deeper life is not for you, this is not about been holy or having a personal relationship with God. It is about the church doctrines.
“In conclusion, never you wear what you can’t wear to a job interview to church, it is the house of God not a Club”.
Lee Ndemera, stated, “That church is very silly. Church is meant to embrace all lost sheep of God not judging them by dressing”.
Another respondent, Bose Emmanuel, said: “Church is for sinner and not for Saints. If they allow her and she sees the way others dressed, she might be moved and also dress like them. What if she was knocked down by a car as she was going home with anger?
Zacchaeus James, who aligned with the decision of the Warders for sending her back said: “Yes! She is supposed to be sent out a hundred times, because she did not honour the house of God. The Church is not a club, wearing such a clothe to church is a disgrace to the whole body of Christ”, James said.
