The Kaduna State Environmental Protection Authority (KEPA) has carried out an extensive environmental sanitation exercise across Zaria and its adjoining communities as part of activities marking the 2026 World Environment Day celebration.
The clean-up campaign, spearheaded by the Managing Director of KEPA, Suleiman Ibrahim Dan Alkali, forms part of the Authority’s broader strategy to promote environmental cleanliness, strengthen public awareness on sustainable practices, and encourage collective action against environmental degradation and climate change.
The exercise witnessed the clearing of waste and debris from strategic locations within Zaria, reinforcing the state’s commitment to maintaining a healthy and sustainable environment for residents.
Speaking on the significance of the initiative, KEPA reaffirmed its dedication to advancing environmental protection policies and fostering a culture of cleanliness across Kaduna State in line with global environmental sustainability goals.
The Authority also expressed appreciation to Governor Uba Sani for his unwavering support toward environmental management programmes and his administration’s commitment to creating a cleaner and healthier Kaduna State.
KEPA further commended the Honourable Commissioner for Environment and Natural Resources, Abubakar Buba, for his leadership and sustained efforts in driving environmental initiatives aimed at improving sanitation, promoting ecological sustainability, and enhancing public health across the state.
The Authority noted that the World Environment Day exercise serves as a reminder of the collective responsibility of government, communities, and individuals in safeguarding the environment for present and future generations.
