Nasarawa State Governor, Abdullahi Sule, has dismissed six commissioners in a major cabinet reshuffle aimed at strengthening governance and injecting fresh momentum into his administration.
The development was announced on Wednesday by the Secretary to the State Government (SSG), Labaran Magaji, shortly after the State Executive Council meeting in Lafia.
The affected commissioners headed the Ministries of Works, Women Affairs, Information, Lands, Science and Technology, and Security.
Magaji explained that the decision was part of efforts to reposition the administration for improved service delivery during the remaining period of Governor Sule’s tenure.
He, however, clarified that the affected commissioners were not removed over poor performance, describing them as dedicated officials who made meaningful contributions to the success of the administration.
According to the SSG, the reshuffle is intended to bring fresh ideas into government and enhance the delivery of its mandate.
He added that the former commissioners could still be considered for other appointments, noting that their replacements would be announced in due course through the appropriate channels.
Meanwhile, the State Executive Council also reviewed strategies to boost the state’s internally generated revenue by leveraging growing investments in the lithium sector.
The discussion followed the recent inauguration of one of Africa’s largest lithium processing plants in Nasarawa State, an event represented by Vice President Kashim Shettima on behalf of President Bola Tinubu.
