The Chief Press Secretary to the Speaker of the Delta State House of Assembly, Mr. Nkem Nwaeke, and his wife, Mrs. Mary Nwaeke, have been honoured with the Outstanding Parents Award for the 2025/2026 Academic Session by Immaculate Conception College (ICC), Benin City, Edo State.
The recognition was presented during the College’s 2025/2026 graduation ceremony by the Principal, Rev. Fr. Anthony Ekhaisomi, in appreciation of the couple’s exceptional commitment and contributions to the growth and development of the institution.
The event also marked the graduation of their 16-year-old son, Michael Nosike Nkem-Nwaeke, who was among the graduating students.
Presenting the award, Fr. Ekhaisomi said the honour was a testament to the Nwaekes’ unwavering support for the College and their sustained commitment to promoting academic excellence and moral values.
According to the award citation, the couple was recognised “in recognition of your unwavering commitment, support and contributions towards the growth and success of this College,” and honoured as Outstanding Parents for the 2025/2026 Academic Session.
The Principal described the Nwaekes as exemplary partners in the educational development of the College, noting that their dedication had remained consistent over the years.
He recalled that the couple’s first son graduated from the institution two years earlier, while their second son completed his studies this session, adding that they had always responded positively whenever called upon to support the school.
Fr. Ekhaisomi said their interest in the College’s academic progress, moral formation of students, and institutional development distinguished them as deserving recipients of the award.
He further stressed that active parental involvement remains essential to nurturing responsible students, improving academic outcomes, and strengthening the overall school community.
Also honoured at the ceremony were Dr. Peter and Mrs. Cynthia Agbonrofo, as well as Mr. Mike and Mrs. MaryJane Omofese, in recognition of their outstanding contributions and active participation in the life of the College.
The presentation attracted applause from parents, staff, students, alumni and guests who attended the colourful graduation ceremony held to celebrate the achievements of the 2025/2026 graduating class.
