Vice President Kashim Shettima on Saturday led a high-powered delegation of political leaders and dignitaries to attend the wedding ceremonies of the children of Borno State Governor, Babagana Umara Zulum, held in Maiduguri.
Among those in attendance were the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajuddeen Abbas, governors from across the federation, members of the National Assembly, ministers, and other prominent figures.
The ceremonies celebrated the unions of Aisha Babagana Zulum and Mohammed Idi Barde; Mamman Babagana Zulum and Yagana Mustapha Busuguma; Umar Babagana Zulum and Fatima Azzaki Jidda; as well as Abba Abubakar Umara and Aisha Ibrahim Musa.
The wedding Fatiha was conducted at the Maiduguri Central Mosque, situated near the palace of the Abubakar Ibn Umar Garbai Al-Amin Elkanemi, in accordance with Islamic rites.
Vice President Shettima played a key ceremonial role as wali (guardian), formally giving out Aisha Babagana Zulum in marriage to Mohammed Idi Barde.
The event attracted a distinguished gathering, including former Vice President Babagana Kingibe; National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Nentawe Yilwatda; Deputy Senate President Jibril Barau; and business magnate Aliko Dangote.
Also present were former Borno State Governor, Ali Modu Sheriff, and former Minister of Communications, Isa Ali Pantami, alongside elder statesman Muhammadu Indimi and several traditional rulers from across the country.
Governors from Kwara, Ogun, Gombe, Yobe, Kebbi, Zamfara, Sokoto, Niger, Jigawa, Kano, Nasarawa, Katsina, and Kaduna states were in attendance, while their counterparts from Imo and Oyo states were represented by their deputies.
Members of the Federal Executive Council, including ministers overseeing Agriculture, Budget and Economic Planning, Housing and Urban Development, Health and Social Welfare, Education, as well as the Minister of State for Regional Development, also graced the occasion.
